Department of NH Quarterly Meeting
The Twin State will be hosting the next department meeting Sunday May 17.
Location:
Soldiers Memorial Building, 31 N Park St, Lebanon, NH 03766
Lunch from. 11:30 am – 12:30 pm; Meeting from 12:45PM – 3:00 PM
This meeting will be the department convention and the main focus will be election of department officers and updates to any Bi Laws
We do have a Bi-law update that was introduced at the Q1 meeting, we will be sending more details on that change out shortly.
With respect to the Department officers, we have a nomination for Sr Vice and Judge Advocate. I have not accepted the nomination of yet, due to the conditions of my accepting a nomination have not been met. I have asked that all elected officer positions be filled with a Marine who is able to be as active as I am. I need to be able to share in the department activities and responsibilities. Also I would like the Sr Vice to be able to succeed me when my time in office would end. We can still make nominations at the Q2 Convention (May 17), therefore we still have time. However please understand if the positions are not filled, I will not accept a nomination. Per the national bylaws (see below), if the Department Commandant position is not filled, and Sr & Jr vice are not able to succeed, the Division Vice Commandant (CC’ed on this email) will begin the search. If the NVC is not able to find a person, then National gets involved, and I am not sure of all the details. I truly do not believe any one would like this to happen. I have talked with all the detachments about this issue. Please remember when I accepted the position I stated I would only run for a single term, and that term is nearing the end. I will be picking a date for a Zoom meeting to openly discuss the Department officer positions, some time in late March or early April. Please discuss this within your detachments, we need all the positions filled with an active person to help expand our department and strengthen the detachments.
National Bylaws Section 825 (2)
Department Commandant. Should the commandant’s position become vacant, the senior vice commandant, if agreeable, will serve as the new commandant for the remainder of the term. If not agreeable, the junior vice commandant, if agreeable, will serve as the new commandant for the remainder of the term. If neither one is agreeable, the division vice commandant will be responsible for finding a replacement department commandant with assistance from the rest of the department staff. If either the senior vice commandant or junior vice commandant serve as the replacement commandant, they will be responsible for finding a replacement for their previous position with assistance and approval of the department board of trustees.
